Seeing Eye Dogs Visit the Library

On Monday, 3 March, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Sia and Hooten, along with their trainers, Vanessa and Liv from the Seeing Eye Dog Association to the Pamela Coyne Library.

Over 60 students and staff were in attendance and were intrigued to hear about training, staffing and many other aspects of the Seeing Eye Dog Association.

These beautiful pups were calm and quiet, whilst wearing their harnesses. The wearing of a Harness indicates that the dogs are in training and not to be handled by anyone other than their trainer, but the moment they came off, Sia and Hooten were ready for lots of pats and attention and the students were very happy to oblige!

As a not for profit organisation, SEDA relies on the generosity of donors, so our students have been taking part in a “Guess the Number of Chocolates” competition to raise money.

A lucky seat prize was also organised on the day and Eliana, from 9 Silver was a very happy winner!

The session ended with a very interesting Question and Answer session and then it was time for a much needed pat!

Students on the senior campus, can look forward to a visit in the SJQ Library on Tuesday, 25 March.

A very special thank you must go to Mrs Elbarbar for organising, to Vanessa and Liv  from SEDA and of course to the stars of the show, Sia and Hooten.
