VET Automotive Students Attend Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix Excursion
On Thursday, 13 March, VET Automotive students had the exciting opportunity to attend an exclusive excursion at the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park. This event provided our students with invaluable exposure to the world of motorsport, automotive technology, and innovation.
During the excursion, students visited the Innovation Tech Hub, where they explored the latest advancements in automotive engineering and technology. The hub featured presentations and exhibits from prominent organisations such as the Australian Defence Force, Motorsport Australia, Karting Australia, and various universities. These displays expanded the students' understanding of the diverse opportunities available within the automotive sector.
Additionally, students were given the chance to participate in several hands-on activities, including a pit-stop challenge, F1 driving simulators, and flight simulators, allowing them to test their skills. They were also treated to a display of vehicles on the track, including the Porsche Carrera Cup and V8 Supercars.
In an exciting competition, two groups of students entered the "Fuelling the Future Challenge." This competition tasked students with creating a 3-minute video presentation on how hydrogen fuel could be integrated into the world of Formula 1, followed by a live presentation and Q&A session with the judges. We are pleased to announce that our junior team achieved a top three finish, while our senior team earned Special Recognition with the "Standout Presenter Certificate" for their exceptional video presentation. The judges praised their creativity, engaging delivery, and original approach to storytelling, highlighting their performance as a standout in the competition. Congratulations to Andriana Menikou, Juliana Menikou, Antonia Mazloungas, Emile El Khoury, Deacon Kolokythas, Nathan Mifsud, Elijah Borg, and Robert Soong for their outstanding achievements.
The excursion offered students an immersive, hands-on experience and a deep dive into the exciting world of motorsport. It was both educational and enjoyable, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
