VCE VM News

The first two weeks of Term 2 have been very productive for our VM students. There is a great deal of momentum across both year levels as they balance their classroom requirements with practical, community-focused projects.

Our Year 12 students are currently busy coordinating activities for Do It for Dolly Day, which they will host next week. In addition to their event planning, they and the Year 11s have been collaborating with the Wellbeing Team to assist with campus promotions and decorations. In the classroom, the Year 12s have been exploring the concept of leadership. After researching various leadership styles and figures who inspire them, they created a "Leadership Wall" featuring informative fact sheets. This project has allowed students to learn from one another while considering the qualities that define an effective leader.

This leadership focus will soon extend into the local community. Next month, the Year 12 cohort will support the Lions Club by assisting with the setup and pack-down of their community bingo night. In a wonderful display of community spirit, the students have pledged to donate the proceeds they earn from this event to the Lakes Entrance CFA to support the development of their new fire station.

The Year 11 students are continuing their work on the Mini Golf Project, which remains a highlight of their practical curriculum. Meanwhile, in Literacy, the focus has shifted toward career readiness; students are currently refining their resumes and cover letters to ensure they are well-prepared for the workforce.

Alongside their core coursework, students have successfully transitioned back into their VET courses. It is encouraging to see many students returning to their established work placements, while others have taken the initiative to begin new placements this term. We look forward to seeing their continued progress as the term unfolds.
