What a wonderful start to the year!

As we come to the end of Term 1, we're taking time to pause and reflect on how our school year has started. Across the school, there has been a strong focus on establishing consistent routines, building relationships and supporting every student to feel confident and connected in their learning.

There have been many moments across the term that reflect what makes our school such a special place. Our whole school Celebration Days have been a highlight, with students collectively working towards and achieving over 4,000 positive behaviour acknowledgement ‘EGGS’ and earning a Creativity Day. These milestones are not just numbers, they represent the way our students consistently demonstrate our values of Compassion, Courage, Ambition and Creativity in their everyday actions. Each Celebration Day has been shaped by student voice through our Junior School Council, with activities that have brought a genuine sense of pride, energy and togetherness across the school.

It has also been wonderful to see our Year 6 students stepping into a wide range of leadership opportunities. Through roles such as School Captains, Literacy Captains, Art Captains, ICT Captains and Junior School Councillors, our students are actively contributing to the success and direction of the school. Whether leading assemblies, supporting initiatives or representing student voice, they are playing an important role in shaping a positive and successful school environment for all.

We have also seen students representing the school beyond the classroom. Ben and Ben’s involvement in the Whitehorse Student Advisory Group is a great example of students engaging thoughtfully with the wider community and representing our school with confidence.

Inside classrooms, staff have maintained a clear and consistent focus on strengthening teaching and learning practices, with particular attention to teaching practice development across the school. These aligns with our Annual Implementation Plan goals to Improve Student Learning Outcomes. This includes ongoing work in early years phonics and reading, alongside a broader commitment to building teacher capability through alignment with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. There has also been a strong emphasis on developing consistent approaches to assessment and using this information to respond to student learning in a timely and targeted way. This work is deliberate and sustained, and will continue to build throughout the year.

Over the past few weeks, we have also engaged in our Whole School Review. This process has provided an important opportunity to reflect on our achievements, consider our progress towards our current goals, and identify the next steps for our school. It will inform the development of our new Strategic Plan for the next four years, while also helping us sharpen our focus for the remainder of this year. I would like to thank our staff, students and families who have contributed to this process through conversations and feedback. Your voice is a valued part of shaping our direction moving forward.

I would like to sincerely thank our staff for their continued professionalism, care and commitment throughout what is always a busy first term. I also extend my thanks to our families for the way you support your children and partner with us in their learning. That shared understanding and trust makes a real difference.

To our students, thank you for the way you have approached the term. The effort you show, the way you support one another, and your willingness to keep trying, even when things are challenging, are what make our school such a positive place to be each day.

As we head into the holidays, I hope this is a time for rest, a change of pace and time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term and continuing the strong start we have made together.

Wishing all families a safe and enjoyable break.

Thank you to our parent community

As we wrap up the term, I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank the many parents and carers who have contributed their time and energy to support our school.

A special thank you to Janet and Tia for the incredible work they put into fundraising across the term. From Friday morning coffees to the Easter raffle, Cheers and Tears, and the many smaller jobs that often go unseen, their efforts make a real difference to our school community.

Thank you also to Bonnie and Felicia for their ongoing work in the uniform shop each Friday. Their support ensures our students are well organised and that new families feel welcomed and looked after as they get set up for school.

We are also very grateful to Darryl for the care he puts into our grounds. His consistent mowing, watering and attention to detail, particularly over the warmer months, help maintain a school environment we can all be proud of.

Finally, thank you to our School Councillors. Your willingness to give your time to read, discuss and make thoughtful decisions plays an important role in shaping the direction of our school and ensuring we continue to provide the best possible outcomes for our students.

We are fortunate to have such a supportive and generous parent community. Thank you for everything you do.

End of Term 2

We wish all students and families a safe and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 2 on Monday 20th April.
