Art Wrap Up
Term 1
Students from Foundation to Year 6 have had a busy and creative start to the year in the art room!
After establishing routines and expectations, all year levels began by exploring the work of Jim Dine, focusing on his iconic use of the heart shape. This provided a wonderful opportunity for students to experiment with personal expression and bold colours.
With the Winter Olympics taking place early in the term, our Foundation students explored texture as they created their own Olympic rings. Across Years 1–6, students investigated the art element of value, creating backgrounds using a single colour while experimenting with tints and shades. Students then applied these skills in different ways.

To finish the term, our Foundation students created Easter bonnets and completed a drawing of their choice. This drawing task will become an annual activity, allowing students to track their artistic development over time.

Students in Years 1–2 and 5–6 also explored the vibrant work of Alma Thomas, while Years 3–4 drew inspiration from the novel The Wild Robot to design and create their own versions of Roz the Robot.
We hope you enjoy these snapshots of student learning and look forward to sharing more creative work throughout the year!
