Year 9 News

We’re now halfway through the term, and it’s been great to see how well our Year 9 students have settled into their classes and routines. Most students are managing their workload well and are building their independence as they take more responsibility for their learning.
In class, students have been working through a range of tasks and assessments across their subjects. It’s been pleasing to see many students asking questions, responding to feedback, and putting in consistent effort. As always, staying organised and keeping up with homework and due dates will help them finish the term strongly.
As we head into the second half of the term, we encourage students to keep focused, check in with their teachers if they need support, and continue doing their best.
Value Award Winners
Congratulations to Danielle Giellspie and Dom Walter on receiving the most value awards so far this year. It is amazing to see so many students upholding the school values of care, commitment, collaboration and character.
Our Year 9 students have received a total of 511 value awards this year - which is so remarkable!
Miller Harding Education Foundation Scholarship
Congratulations to Minhatul Rahman for winning the Miller Harding Education Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship supports high potential girls by providing practical support to lift their educational outcomes and career aspirations.
VET Healthcare Taster Day
On Friday February 27th, 12 students attended a VET taster day at Federation University and participated in a variety of hands-on activities. The students particularly enjoyed learning how to perform CPR, using a defibrillator, wearing and preparing scrubs and practicing handwashing techniques. The students particularly enjoyed learning from nurses who shared their experiences and provided a glimpse into the life of a doctor, nurse or medical professional.
Additional opportunities will be provided to Year 9 students in Semester 2 to attend other VET Taster Days to gain valuable insight into career pathways.
Year 9 Camp 2026
In the coming days, information will be sent to Year 9 families regarding the 2026 Year 9 camp. It is important that all interested students express interest to ensure that the camp goes ahead.
