📚 Starting FRIDAY lunchtime – HCCB Book Club 

HCCB Book Club starting this Friday!

Book Club will meet Friday lunchtimes in the Library (half-time bell) to chat about books, share recommendations, and connect with like-minded readers.

✍️ Got writing skills? Boroondara Literary Awards could be for you! 

The Boroondara Literary Awards, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Balwyn, celebrate the creativity of writers and poets within Boroondara. Entries close 8 May 2026. 

Held annually by the Boroondara Library Service since 1999, the Awards celebrate the creativity of writers and poets within the City of Boroondara and Victoria. 

The two categories are: 

• Young Writers Competition – offers $5,000 in prize money across various sections 

• Open Short Story Competition – awards $1,500 to the first-place winner 

Winning stories from each category will be published in the Boroondara Literary Awards Anthology. 

The anthology can be found at your local Boroondara library to purchase or borrow, the State Library of Victoria, or the National Library of Australia.
