Spring concert a great success!

by Mr Troy Rogers, Instrumental Music Coordinator

Congratulations to everyone for a wonderful Spring Concert at Box Hill Town Hall. Thanks to all of the parents and friends who attended, helping make the concert a memorable experience for all students involved. The concert ended a very busy term of musical activities and we look forward to the events scheduled in Term 4.

The Beginner Strings will take part in a Beginner strings workshop with Upwey High School. Students from Upwey High School will join us here at Box Hill High School for the workshop which will see a combined string group of almost 30 students. The day will consist of ensemble rehearsals, tutorials and performances from each school ensemble. We are looking forward to the event in Week 3. Thanks Ms Somerville for organising the event.

The Beginner Band will be performing several times this term, at the Victorian School Music Festival and the Grade 6 Transition Evening and the Music Information Night for future Year 7s. Since forming in Term 2, the band has developed incredibly well under the leadership of Mr Corcoran. We are looking forward to hearing them perform later this term.

The Inaugural Box Hill High School Orchestra will have its first performance this term. The ensemble will be made up of Wind Symphony and Senior Strings students and will come together for two rehearsals before the performance. We are currently looking at a lunchtime Quadrangle performance so all students in the school have the opportunity to listen to this special ensemble. All other ensembles will have one final performance in the quadrangle to finish up the year.

We look forward to the term ahead.
