Student Voice

On Wednesday the 13th of May, our Year 6 School attended the Whitehorse City Council Children’s Advisory Group at Box Hill Town Hall. During the morning, students participated in a range of engaging activities designed to encourage teamwork, leadership and student voice.
The day began with a table activity where students shared ideas for naming two spaces in Box Hill, followed by a welcome and Acknowledgment of Country. Students then joined in a fun name game activity to get to know one another before enjoying a guided tour of Box Hill Town Hall.
After a short break, the captains took part in an informative session about trees and the environment, learning from the Manager of Parks and Natural Environment. They also participated in a fun beach ball teamwork activity before finishing the day with an important discussion about why adults should listen to children and value young people’s ideas and opinions.
Our School Captains represented our school beautifully and showed excellent leadership, enthusiasm and respect throughout the event.
