Year 5 students bask in the limelight
– Jim and Sia, Year 5 students
On Friday 14 November Nate Burns came to visit Port Melbourne Primary School. Some lucky classes including the year 5’s were able to see what he does as a weather reporter and meteorologist. He came to our class because we are doing a class news report about four natural disasters.
It was really cool seeing the behind the scenes of how they film the ABC news. Some students in these classes got to ask him questions about what he does and tell him facts about cyclones, bushfires, floods, and droughts.
We did 2 segments, one at 8:15am and the other at 8:35am. During the time in between the segments we filmed an intro to our class news report about these natural disasters. While Nate had to wait he started dancing because he was excited and then answered lots of questions.
He was a really friendly, funny and enjoyable person and made this experience one to remember.
Watch Tyler's response to Nate's question about cyclones.
