Year 3 - Year 6 Updates

Year 3

What a flying start to Term 3! We have leaped right back into learning with boundless energy and enthusiasm across every subject. In Reading, we’ve stepped into the wonderful world of E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web. The students are hooked on the heartwarming adventures of Wilbur, Charlotte and the barnyard crew! 

In Maths, we’ve been unraveling the magic of numbers by exploring how multiplication and division go hand-in-hand. The launch of Matific in our classroom has brought an extra layer of excitement, letting students level up their math skills through interactive challenges. Curiosity is running high in Science as we kick off our Chemical Sciences unit. 

Finally, the anticipation is building for our Grandparents' and Special Persons' Liturgy this Friday! We can’t wait to welcome all of our wonderful guests into our school community for a memorable celebration.

Year 4

Year 4 have hit the ground running in Term 3 and have been busy across all learning areas! In Literacy, we have begun reading Storm Boy while developing our sentence expansion skills. Through the novel, we are building our vocabulary and exploring important themes such as sustainability, recycling, the environment and Australian wildlife, including pelicans. 

In Mathematics, we are investigating different types of angles, including acute, obtuse, reflex and right angles. Our Inquiry learning has launched with an exciting Chemical Sciences unit, where students have been researching famous scientists and their discoveries. 

In Religion, we are looking forward to continuing our Mini Vinnies journey while exploring the concept of Church and Community. 

We are also eagerly anticipating several special events this term, including our Grandparents' and Special Persons' Liturgy, the Prep 100 Days of School celebrations, and our Hoop Time Day. We are looking forward to another fantastic term of learning together! 

Year 5

Year 5 have made a positive start to Term 3. Through our new novel, Tom Appleby, Convict Boy, we are exploring information report writing and learning about life in the 1800s, including the transportation of convicts from Britain to Australia and the history of the First Fleet. In Mathematics, we are studying fractions, while in Inquiry, we are investigating how wind, water and human activity change Earth’s surface over time. 

We are delighted to welcome our student teacher, Mr Paul Mapley, who will be teaching alongside us for the next four weeks. 

We are also looking forward to leading the Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ Day Liturgy with Year 2 this Friday and another fun filled term of learning. 

Year 6

Year 6 has had a busy start to Term 3 as students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation next week. Students participated in a Reflection Day with Father Justin, who spoke with them about the significance of the sacrament and answered their questions. They have also been completing their saint projects, Confirmation books and practising in the church.

In Mathematics, students have begun learning about patterns and algebra, exploring function machines, identifying rules, and finding missing terms in number patterns.
