Sydney Catholic Schools Netball Championships

A huge congratulations to our Senior Girls Netball Team who were crowned SCS Primary Netball Champions! The girls had an early start at Ken Rosewall Arena, ready to take on Villa Maria Primary, Hunters Hill to be crowned the best primary school netball team from across the Sydney Catholic Schools network.

The girls earned their place in the Final after progressing through both the Conference and Interconference stages earlier in the year, remaining undefeated and demonstrating outstanding skill, court play and teamwork throughout the competition.

The match went goal for goal to start with, until Villa Maria got on a roll and finished the first quarter 8-4. The girls commenced the second quarter trailing 11-4 but showed incredible resilience and belief in one another to start to claw back the deficit to 11-10 at half time. After that, the game stayed tight with neither team able to get a lead greater than 2 goals. With 90 seconds left and a vocal crowd of cheering supporters in the grand stand and back at school, the girls kept their composure and managed to score a final 2 goals to seal a nail-biting 22-20 victory! A special congratulations to Fleur, who was named Best and Fairest for the match.

We are so proud not only of your amazing netball talents, but your determination, camaraderie and belief in one another. The girls were deservingly welcomed back to school the next day to “We are the Champions” as our school bell and some very excited and proud members of the Our Lady of Fatima community.

Thank you to the parents for your support and travel across Sydney for some very cold and early starts throughout the competition.

Congratulations Ava, Kayla, April, Olivia, Annabelle, Marni, Fleur, Keira, Charlotte and Chloe!
