Students from Year 2- 6 are invited to sing in the choir. Please come along and join in this  beautiful Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and support the Year 4 students and families in their faith journey.

Prayer Cards for Year 12 students

St Aloysius College, OLMC Burraneer and De La Salle Caringbah

Thank you to the families who have opened their hearts to write a prayer for  Year 12 students at De La Salle Senior College Caringbah, St Aloysius Cronulla and Our Lady of Mercy College Burraneer.

It is time now to return your prayer card to the school office.

(Attention Tracey Bowler)

These prayer cards will be placed in a special Prayer Pack including a Miraculous Medal and prayer card blessed by Archbishop Fisher, chocolate and before and after exam prayer cards. The packs will be presented to the students before the start of the exams. I know first hand how beautifully the prayer packs are received and treasured as many former students contact me to say the words written on the family prayer card helped them be positive and upbeat during the HSC exam time. Thanks once again!

The Sacredness in Simplicity

By Susanne North

Simple is sacred. In an over-performance culture, the greatest gift a parent can give is a sense of belonging and acceptance.

Simplifying our lives can often help us to create space for re-connection, building relationships and being more engaged. Simplifying means creating more space for awareness, attentiveness, connectedness and finding the sacredness in all things. The underlying mantra is ‘less is more.’ De-cluttering the home environment in relation to clothes, toys, gadgets and a home that filters out constant stimuli is key. The less we have to worry about, the less anxious we get, the fewer battles we have to fight and the more aware we become of each other.

Limiting the 24/7 access to media, setting clear viewing and social media boundaries, eliminating TV during meal times and conversing in the car instead of listening to music or talkback radio helps us to practise being more attentive.

Healthy rhythms, routines and rituals provide islands of consistency, calmness and ample opportunities for connection. A regular cup of hot chocolate at the end of the school day, a daily sit-down dinner with a lit candle, a night time prayer, the walk to school, a back rub – these are moments where we can share ourselves, our fears, hopes, struggles and joy.

Pope Francis Award Program - Year 6 Students

Here are some more groups of students signed up for the Pope Francis Award Program at the OLF Preschool and Long Daycare. This is a very popular activity and it is a win/win for everyone! The students assist with light cleaning, tidying and organising activities for the children. It has been very rewarding seeing the students perform acts of service and have fun while doing so!
