WEEK 5: Wednesday 19th August - Year 2 Parish Mass
First Holy Communion Commitment Mass (Y4) & Feast of the Assumption
This Saturday 15th August at 4:00pm we invite our Holy Communicants and their families as well as the broader community to come and support the Year 4 students as they attend their First Communion Commitment Mass in conjunction with the Feast of the Assumption.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin
On 15th August the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This important feast day reminds us of Mary’s special place in our faith and celebrates the belief that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken body and soul into Heaven.
Mary is a beautiful example of faith, trust and courage. Throughout her life, she said “yes” to God, even when she did not know what lay ahead. Her love for God and willingness to follow His plan continue to inspire us as we strive to live as loving disciples.
The Feast of the Assumption is also a day of hope. It reminds us that God’s love is stronger than death and that we are called to place our trust in Him, just as Mary did.
A PRAYER to MARY
Mary, Mother of Jesus and our Mother.
Help us to follow your example of faith and trust.
Teach us to say “yes” to God.
To care for others with love,
and to have courage when life is difficult.
Guide our families and school community
and lead us closer to your son, Jesus

JERSEY DAY - CWF Charitable Works Fund
Friday 14th August (Week 4)
Please bring a gold coin donation!
Each year, reflecting the charitable spirit of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Sydney Catholic Schools supports the Charitable Works Fund (CWF) by inviting all students K-12 to donate a cold coin during the month of August. By financially supporting the CWF, students assist the important work of the many ministries in the Archdiocese of Sydney.
We invite all students K-6 to wear their favourite sporting team jersey or the jersey of their weekend sports clubs or simply wear the colours of their favourite team.

Fathers Day Celebrations
Fathers Day Breakfast
We welcome Dads and Father figures to our school for breakfast. We will have our annual Paper Aeroplane competition running, handball games, live music playing and a Coffee van from 7:45am.

Fathers Day Liturgy
Following our Breakfast we invite all our Father figures to attend a liturgy on the playground.
Fathers Day Stall - Wednesday 2nd September
If you wish for them to purchase at the stall, please send money with your child to school - Please place it in an envelope with their name and class on it.
Note that no IOUs will be available.
Gifts will be available for $5, $10 and $15.
