Playtime at St Thomas

Where can children play at recess and lunch?
The children are able to play anywhere in the playground they would like. Eight school staff are on duty at recess and at lunchtime every day to supervise the students.
The adults wear a high visibility vest (school staff - orange or yellow & visiting teachers wear pink) so that students can find them if they need help.
We find that at the start of the year, Foundation children prefer to play close to the Galilee community.
Playground Areas
The Nook
This area under the shade is called 'The Nook' and has some quieter actvities. Children can sit, play of chat here.
It is a space where children do not run or play ball games.
Playground One
For the first term of each school year this orange playground is devoted to Foundation and Year One children only at recess and lunchtime.
Foundation and Year One children can play beyond this area as well if they choose to.
Eating outside
All students are given time to eat their snack and lunch in their classroom. Students are not allowed to eat in the playground during recess and lunch.
End of play routine
At the end of playtime and lunchtime, music plays for 3 minutes to remind all students to have a drink of water, go to the toilet and then line up ready to meet their teacher.
