Dolly's Dream Fundraiser

Over the past few months, the Level 6 Leaders ran a fundraiser for Dolly’s Dream.
In Term Three we worked hard to promote kindness and inclusiveness around the whole school, teaching our peers about the importance of kindness, community and the effects bullying can have on young people. We wanted to extend what we had been learning into the wider community, so we planned a big community fundraiser.
In Term Four on the first Thursday back we decided to host a movie night under the stars and then finish our campaign the following day with a whole school multi age day. Our fundraiser was created to spread very important information about the effects of bullying at our age.
The movie night included a popcorn stall, guess the lolly jar and a community uniting as one for a movie with a deeper meaning.
First, right before the sunset, the dream team (Level 6 Leaders ) gave a speech on what Dolly’s Dream is about and what it means to us to be a leader and share this powerful message. Afterwards, we watched a movie called ‘The Wild Robot’ which was a movie about sharing kindness and care towards each other. We had a massive amount of our community come to the night with family and friends.
We reached our goal and sold more than 200 tickets.
We also raised a lot of money from the popcorn stall and guess the lolly jar.
Another big thank you to the community because we got even more money from donations!
On Friday, we started with a multi age day that included activities like painting kindness rocks, making friendship bracelets, playing team games and making paper planes.
The multi-age day went from the morning to after recess.
After we had all the rotations of activities, the Level 6 Captains went to different grades in groups to do a presentation and activity on bullying. Some activities included making paper hearts and filling out a sheet of paper on what bullying means to them.
This all led to lunchtime where we had a whole school picnic on our oval.
At recess and lunch playtime, some of the girls in level 6 ran a stall that had facepainting, colour and glitter hairspray and face glitter. This was a big hit with a long line waiting to get their hair and face done.
We raised a lot of money with this and also raised lots of money by selling cupcakes that we handmade and bought.
Overall, Dolly’s Dream was a big success in our school and community. We raised a total of… more than $3,950!!!
We would like to thank everyone who took some part in this fundraiser.
Thank you to our sponsors below for their generous contributes to our event.
From giving a gold coin donation to coming to our movie night, you all helped!
