3 weeks ago, 18 of our students competed in our first ever Interstatre 24 hour HPV race over in Murray Bridge, South Australia.

This is the biggest event in the South Australian Racing calendar and it was a privilege to be accepted to compete.

We did not know what to expect. A total of 9 Primary School teams, 150 Highschool and Adult teams around a 1.71km track. We knew the kids had to deliver their best driving and racing performance... AND THEY DID!!! They kids were outstanding, giving it their all each time they entered the trike. We only had 3 minor crashes in the 24 hours which is unheard of for Primary School Students.

We sat in the top 3 of our category for the first 8 hours of the race and when we headed into the night, our position climbed. At 11:00pm we were in first place and we were extending our lead with every lap. We held a 9 lap lead through the night and with 5 hours to go. The second place school put in their fastest riders at this time and were slowly clawing back the lead. We unfortunately lost the lead with only half an hour to go and couldn't keep up. Finishing 2nd by only half a lap was truly an amazing achievement by these kids for their first 24 hour race.

A special thanks goes to all of our Team Sponsors for supporting this program. Their contribution this year has paid the entry fee for these students to participate in this amazing event. It also aided in purchasing a new HPV which we picked up in Murray Bridge and will be ready to race at our Maryborough event in November.

On Saturday 18 October, we have our final Vic Series HPV race at Casey Fields in Cranbourne. If you are interested in attending to see what the program is about, please contact Scott Zachariassen at jppsracing@gmail.com and I can send you the details directly.
