Wakakirri, and other events.....

What a wonderful reward for all the hard work and the outstanding performance of the students and staff that produced our Wakakirri story - a NATIONAL AWARD.

We are incredible proud of this achievement and everyone is to be congratulated. While we don't participate just to get awards, it is fantastic to receive recognition and for us to achieve our school value of Excellence.

And please also acknowledge and congratulation the students and teachers behind all our other events and initiatives: SSS Choir, SSS Dance, Danceaerobics, JP Racing and the host of sports done recently (basketball, aths, swimming, crickets, etc).

Dolly's Dream Movie Night and Multi-age Day

Another wonderful event and initiative of our student leaders. The two events combined and the activities of the students raised almost $4000 for the Dolly's Dream charity.

But more than that, they raised awareness about bullying, kindness, caring, inclusion, diversity; presenting lessons and challenges for students to under-take that would help make Jells Park PS a better place. I am incredible proud of the Level 6 Leaders for this wonderful initiative and the work they did to get there.

Can I also acknowledge Ms Tenberge for the drive, encouragement and support she gave to the students to achive such a wonderful outcome.

Upcoming Important items:

The latter end of 2025 and the start of 2026 there will be three 'whole school' compliance process happening in the school:

OH&S Audit - has been completed and as a school we achieve a 74.5% score. Not bad but there were 21 compliance requirements that we have had to address - most of which Mr Zach and I have completed. None directly affected the safety of students in the school.

Minimum Standards for School Registration & Child Safe Standards Review - is being undertaken right now. Most of this is policy and procedure review. However one impact might be the updating of some school policies which will go through School Council. We welcome any input here as we go through the process.

School Strategic Review - is done every 4 years and we will commence this in Semester 1 2026. This will involve community, student and teacher feedback on all operations of the school, so be ready to say your bit when asked next year.

Important Reminders / notes:

Water Mains Works: I need to advise the community that we will soon be having some significant works being done to repair a damaged section of the Fire Hydrant Water Mains. There is a significant leak in the pipes from the mains on Homestead Drive (next to the car park entrance) to the junction box (in front of the PA room) - this is about 15m worth of pipes that all sits under concrete and a garden bed.

This will all need to be ripped up, repaired and replaced. There will be at least a weeks' worth of disruption to the entrance off Homestead Drive.

This worth has to be done fairly urgently so we have water supply to the hydrants, and a side benefit is we will be getting a large slab of concrete replace, repairing a number of trip hazards in this space.

Celebrate and support diverse learners

October 2025 is Dyslexia Awareness Month and ADHD Awareness Month and 17 October is Developmental Language Disorder Day. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about these conditions and how we can support diverse learners in school and at home.

About diverse learners

Diverse learners include students with characteristics of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, developmental language disorder (DLD) and learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

At JPPS we are committed to inclusive education where all learners are supported by evidenced-based teaching practices, which are essential for diverse learners.

Diverse Learners Hub

The Department of Education’s Diverse Learners Hub provides evidence-based guidance and resources for teachers and families on how to support diverse learners.

The hub’s website includes:

If you have any questions about how we support diverse learners at JPPS please dont hesitate to get in touch.

Have a wonderful weekend!
