Push-Up Challenge 2025: Wednesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 26
Wednesday this week saw the beginning of the Push Up Challenge 2025. St Aloysius staff and students are completing push-ups in the playground as a mental health awareness campaign. Many students and staff have committed to completing 3,214 push ups over a 23-day period. This number represents the lives lost linked to mental illness in 2023. On average, students will complete 140 push-ups each day to reach this target.
The Push Up Challenge is about raising awareness for mental health. As a community we are encouraging our students and staff to check-in with their mates and do a bit of exercise together. We are sharing wellness facts promoted by the organisation. For example, today’s push-ups target was 140. This number relates to the statistic that regular exercise can decrease a person experiencing psychological distress by 14%.
It has been amazing to see the students doing their exercises, push-ups, sit-ups, squats in the playground each recess and lunch and having conversations about the campaign. Staff have also been out on the yoga mats showing their determination in completing their daily target.
