Leader of Year 12 Wellbeing

Mr Peter Robertson

Term 2 is now in full swing. We have passed the halfway point, have the King’s Birthday public holiday as a little reprieve and are on the run home to the holidays.

So much has been going on, the following list providing a brief snapshot of recent events and highlights:

  • Tuesday, 27th May - Paul Dillon presentation ( Drugs & Alcohol )
  • Tuesday, 27th May - Archbishop’s Student Leadership Luncheon
  • Thursday, 29th May and 5th June - HSC Thursdays continue ( English and SOR )
  • Friday, 30th May - Reflection Day
  • Monday, 2nd June - Athletics Carnival
  • Tuesday, 3rd June - ‘ Thrive ‘ continues
  • Wednesday, 4th June - Parent/Teacher Night

We move now into Week 7 where the obvious priority turns to the penultimate set of HSC assessment tasks (the Trial HSC exams in early August will be the final piece of the school-based assessment program). It is crucial that all students are switched on and dedicated to achieving their personal best results over the next two weeks, as this will place them in a positive position to take on the challenge of their last term of school, coming up really quickly!

A few upcoming dates for the calendar are listed below:

  • Tuesday, 10th June - Full School Assembly
  • Thursday, 12th June - Assessment Block begins (until 18th June)
  • Thursday, 19th June - in-house Careers Afternoon at SCS
  • Friday, 20th June - Winter Hangout (details to be confirmed)

I am sure that there are other things I have overlooked but in the meantime, I would like to wish everyone a peaceful and well deserved long weekend. It is an opportunity for our Year 12’s to have a mini-break from physically attending school, catch up on some sleep, get organised, do some exercise, complete practice questions and so forth. It is not time to waste on social media, water gun challenges and other forms of procrastination and avoidance.

It has been very pleasing to see the huge majority of our year group participate and enter into the spirit of things with gusto - the respectful engagement with Paul Dillon’s incredibly important message on drugs and alcohol, the joy and laughter on Reflection Day, the dressing up as movie characters/icons for the Athletics Carnival, the diligent approach to study and revision, the volunteering of students such as Hannah Madigan and Alysha Mobberley-Barreto in visiting the Archbishop at St Mary’s Cathedral, the meetings about future careers and pathways with Mrs Kennedy and so much more!

Well done Year 12 and keep up the good work!

Mr Peter Robertson
