Seeds of Science
As part of Science Week and this year’s theme, 'Seeds of Science', our Year 8 students explored the fascinating ways plants disperse their seeds. Students learned about different seed dispersal techniques before designing and creating their own seeds. They then tested their designs using the principles of fair testing, comparing how effectively their seeds could travel under controlled conditions. The challenge encouraged creativity, scientific thinking and hands-on problem solving while bringing the theme of Seeds of Science to life.

Our Year 8 students have been shaking things up in Science while exploring the powerful forces beneath Earth’s surface in our Rocks and Plate Tectonics unit! Students built models to demonstrate different plate boundaries and created model seismometers to investigate earthquake intensity and seismographs. To finish the unit, students researched natural disasters caused by plate tectonics and presented their findings in an engaging conference-style presentation, combining creativity, scientific investigation and communication skills.
