From the Principal 

As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for their continued support and contribution to the Cheltenham Secondary College community.

Term 3 is always a busy one, and this year has been no exception. Across the College, there has been a great deal happening, both inside and outside the classroom, and it has been wonderful to see our students continuing to challenge themselves, take up opportunities and contribute positively to school life.

For our Year 12 students, Term 3 represents a particularly significant milestone. Our Unit 4 coursework has now been completed and students have commenced their practice examinations. These examinations are being externally marked, providing students with additional independent feedback as they prepare for their final VCAA examinations.

The coming weeks are about consolidating what they know, responding carefully to feedback, and preparing themselves as well as possible for the final stage of their secondary schooling. We are extremely proud of the way they have approached their final year and wish every student the very best with their preparation and the examinations ahead. I encourage them to use the holiday period wisely, finding a balance between study, rest, exercise and time with family and friends.

There have also been some wonderful experiences across other year levels this term. Our Year 9 students recently completed their City School experience, immersing themselves in Melbourne and taking advantage of many of the educational, cultural and career opportunities the city provides. It was a terrific opportunity for students to build confidence, independence and their understanding of the city beyond the traditional classroom environment.

We are also continuing to invest in the future of teaching and learning at Cheltenham. Planning is well underway for the further development of our Design & Production and STEM programs. This includes investment in new technology and equipment, including a CNC machine and additional 3D printers, as we develop stronger pathways in design, engineering, technology, problem solving and innovation across Years 7–10.

Another significant development is the completion of our new Wellbeing Hub. The Hub will provide a dedicated and welcoming space for student wellbeing and support services and will become fully operational next term. This represents another important step in ensuring that students can readily access the support they need to be successful both personally and academically.

As we head into the break, I would also ask families to take a few minutes to check their child's school uniform. After three terms of wear, there may be items that need repairing, replacing or updating. Ensuring students return in Term 4 in full College uniform helps maintain the pride we have in our school and ensures we begin the final term positively and consistently.

Finally, I hope all students, staff and families have an opportunity to enjoy a well-earned break. Term 3 has been incredibly productive, but it is equally important that we make time to rest, recharge and spend time with family and friends.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of Cheltenham Secondary College. I look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 4 and to finishing the 2026 school year strongly together.
