Model United Nations 

On Tuesday 15th September, 12 students from JFC from Years 7 – 12 attended an official Model United Nations caucus at Coburg High School. JFC students worked in teams represented countries including Angola, Croatia, India, Canada and Norway. Students were required to prepare statements to present that represented their specified countries position on drafting a UN resolution on managing global oceans conservation. The students then had to work with students from Coburg, Pascoe Vale and Footscray to debate and amend the resolution which ultimately passed.

The day was hosted by a former United Nations Ambassador from St Kitts and Nevis, giving the students an authentic perspective on how the United Nations works to solve global issues. Throughout the day, all students had the opportunity to enhance their skills in public speaking, collaboration, negotiation and professionalism. This authentic learning experience provides students with the opportunity to understand the role and impact of the UN in addressing Global Sustainable Development Goals.
