Principal's Report

My highlight for the week was being invited to the VM room for lunch and being treated to a delicious meal using ingredients grown by the students. The presentation which followed outlined the steps involved in creating a garden and the skills they learned about teamwork and being involved in a community project. It was a delight to see these young people showing such maturity and growth in their learning!

There were many other great achievements on show in the last couple of weeks and our students are really stepping up in their confidence and willingness to be involved in school projects. The Year 10 English class showcased their latest text responses using a wide range of multimedia and spoke eloquently about what they had learned through studying the text. A small group of students went out on the United Nations excursion this week and demonstrated that they are indeed global citizens, with a very good understanding of world politics and society.

We have had numerous other excursions and celebrations, making it such a pleasure to be part of the JFC community. I thank all of the teachers and students for your participation. 

Year 12 students know that this is their time to shine, and I hope you are planning for your study over the break in preparation for the exams at the end of the year. Parents - please support your child during the next few weeks as they try and focus on doing their best! We will have an assembly at the end of week 2 term 4, to wish our seniors all the best for their exams and to help them to celebrate this wonderful milestone.

Many of you came to the Fawkner Festa last week, and I toured many families and young people through the new buildings and grounds. The feedback was extremely positive,, and people were astounded at the sophisticated new spaces and wonderful resources for our students. Please help us to spread the word about the new spaces at JFC as we continue to build school pride and community engagement and increase our numbers.

The buildings are complete and the grounds have been landscaped - we are now just waiting on the final adjustments to ensure everything is ready for next term. I am really looking forward to inviting all the students to enjoy the central courtyard and the new cafeteria! We have engaged a canteen operator, and they will start moving in over the coming weeks. I will keep you posted as to when the official start date will be - hopefully not too far into term 4.

Thanks you everyone for another terrific term at JFC and we are all looking forward to some warmer weather to enjoy our new gardens.
