Designing Our First Nations Sports Tops

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students have been working alongside our Koorie Education Support Officers (KESOs) on an exciting project to design a First Nations sports top that celebrates culture, identity and our connection to Country.

Students learnt about First Nations symbols and explored how symbols can represent important connections to the local area and community. They then used these ideas, along with our school colour palette, to create their own designs for a sports top that represents both culture and our school community.

Students proudly presented their designs to the Principal Class, explaining the meaning behind their chosen symbols, colours and ideas. It was wonderful to see students sharing their creativity and cultural knowledge with such pride.

Thanks to Active School funding, the final design will be brought to life and made into sports tops for our students to wear. We are very excited to see the finished tops and look forward to celebrating our students, culture and connection to Country through this special project!
