Green PLC Update

What a wonderful Term 3 Green PLC Green have had!  We have been busy consolidating our learning and fine tuning our life skills. Here is a look at what we have been exploring together.

Father's Day & Special Persons Morning

We enjoyed celebrating Father's Day with our families! It was such a special morning having dads and special people come into school for a special early morning breakfast. During class time, students enjoyed making cards and some used their money skills to purchase gifts from the stall. Thank you to those who were able to join us!

English

This term we have been completely immersed in our mentor texts, Room on the Broom and Field Trip Fiasco. Students have explored the stories through researching background knowledge, identifying key vocabulary and continuing with predictable chart writing and identifying who, doing, what and when in a picture. Students worked together by re-enacting the whole story of Room on the Broom and premiering the video to family and friends. Alongside this, students have been working hard on their phonics through our Little Learners Love Literacy program, learning new letter sounds, heart words, and speed words every week.

Mathematics

In Maths we have been exploring Number and Measurement. Students have been developing their forwards and backwards counting skills by learning to take objects away from a collection and find how many are left. In Measurement we have explored shapes and investigated positional language. In cooking we have been learning about ordinal numbers by placing steps in a recipe in order. A highlight was following steps to make animal crackers!

Health

Health has been all about identifying our personal strengths and working together. We started by exploring our own skills and learning new ones by trying new hands-on activities such as origami and following dance moves. From there we used our strengths to help ourselves and others play games. It has been a warm and meaningful topic and students have loved helping one another.

Science

Our science topic has been about the weather where students used their prior knowledge and learning new facts. They have learnt that clouds can hold water and produce rain by making rain clouds in a jar. Students had fun planting seeds in cotton balls and watching them sprout from the condensation in plastic bags on their classroom windows.
