Respectful Relationships

Respectful Relationships – Term 3
It has been another busy term in Respectful Relationships, with lots of great learning happening across our cohorts!
This term we have been talking about friendships, feelings, worries, stress, resilience, belonging and what it means to have safe and respectful relationships. Our younger students have explored being themselves, celebrating differences and learning that everyone can have different interests, likes and strengths.
As students get older, we have been building on these ideas by learning to recognise big feelings and the clues our bodies give us when we are worried, stressed or frustrated. We have practised different strategies that can help, including taking a break, asking for help, using calming strategies and having another go when things don’t quite work out the first time.
Our older students have been looking at how these skills can be used in everyday life, including managing stress, navigating friendships and social situations, asking for help and making safe and respectful choices.
As always, there has been plenty of learning through stories, games, visuals, role-play and hands-on activities. Students are encouraged to join in and communicate in the way that works best for them, whether that is through speech, visuals, AAC, gesture or Key Word Sign/Auslan.
It has been great to see students having a go, sharing their ideas and continuing to build skills that help them understand themselves and others. We are looking forward to continuing our Respectful Relationships learning in Term 4!
