Dear Parents and Carers,
Best wishes for a lovely weekend ahead. This warmer spring-like weather is making things a little more bearable.
Tickets are now on sale! Get in fast to secure your seats—this promises to be one of the best shows we have ever done. I had the pleasure of watching the full run-through this week, and the children were absolutely fantastic.
Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday 7 September, and we have been working closely with the Parents and Friends Committee to prepare for the celebrations.

Stay tuned for further updates from the P&F about the stall closer to the time.
Last Saturday we had a band of enthusiastic, hard-working families helping with our Bushfire Mitigation activities in preparation for the upcoming season. The group did an incredible job cutting back and clearing branches from the oval right up to the church, as well as burning piles previously cut down by Anthony, our tireless maintenance officer.
On Friday afternoon, our students joined in by collecting and stacking branches for burning in the coming days. They achieved a huge amount in a short time, and many even asked if this could become a lunchtime club activity! It was wonderful to see them sharing responsibility and collaborating so beautifully in their Friendship Groups.
A heartfelt thank you to the Davies, Stuart, Hill, Ireland, Brennan, Darveniza, and Feim families for their contribution, as well as Anthony Willemsen, Rebecca Beveridge, and Katie Vranken for their assistance. Special thanks also to our students and staff for their efforts on Friday.
This year, principals from the Outer Eastern Zone have the incredible opportunity to travel to Italy on a Jubilee Pilgrimage. We depart Melbourne on Sunday 7 September, and will be walking in the footsteps of the Great Saints of Italy.
Our journey begins in Rome, before travelling east to Montecassino and San Giovanni Rotondo. From there we move north-west through Lanciano and into Umbria, staying in Assisi, then further north into Tuscany with visits to Siena and Florence. The final leg takes us to Venice, via Padua. This promises to be a deeply enriching faith development and professional learning experience.
Following the pilgrimage, I will remain in Italy and France for the school holidays and a week of Long Service Leave. During this time, Katie Vranken will step into the role of Acting Principal. Her appointment has been ratified by the Archbishop, and she will act with full authority in the position. I am confident she will have the full support of our school community. Katie will also be supported by our MACS Senior Manager, Mr Rob Horwood.
Please direct all communication during this time to Katie via principal@sjyarrajunction.catholic.edu.au or by calling 5967 1183. My email and Melbourne mobile will not be monitored at this time. Katie will be able to contact me if critical advice is needed.

Best wishes for the week ahead,
Kind regards,
Nick
