News from Year Three

Year 3 at Play!
A snapshot of playtime during the week in Year 3! We have been bug-searching, bouncing, booting, and being besties!
Bullying No Way! Week
Last Monday, our students enjoyed an engaging live performance from Brainstorm Productions. The actors brought real-life scenarios to the stage, demonstrating positive problem-solving techniques in action. Being Brave explored how children can cope with emotions and adapt to change at school, at home, and online. It addressed important topics such as bullying, loss, and other challenging life events, giving students practical strategies to support their wellbeing and build resilience.
Mila: On Monday we had an incursion at our school in the SPA centre. The people who came are the brainstorm productions. It was about not worrying what other people think and be brave. It was funny and a bit sad. My favourite part was when he said he was superman .
IVY: The brainstorm production show was great. The people never broke character and it really taught kids how to be brave and how to be safe online. It felt like it was actually happening. The only problem was the girl was most of the characters and it was hard to tell which person she was playing.
Jordan: On monday we watched Brainstorm Productions. There was a boy and girl. I think they were so funny, but I learnt that Bullying is very bad. It was very cool!
Eden: On Monday we had people from the brainstorm productions at our school. There was one boy and one girl they were very good performers. It was in amazing experience. It was about being brave it was also funny but a bit weird at the same time and that was the experience bye have a good day.
Charlie: On Monday we had an incursion for No Bullying Week. Some people came to show a Brainstorm Productions. I thought it was very funny and awesome.
Cursive Practice
The Year 3 students really enjoy practicing their cursive (joined) writing during handwriting time. This week we have been working on joins to and from 'f' and 'g'. The students write on their whiteboards and then in their English books on dotted thirds paper.
Paired Reading
In Year 3, we have been using paired reading, where students read together with a partner. This has been a wonderful way for the children to support each other, practice their reading fluency and share ideas about what they are reading. The students really enjoy working with a buddy, and it’s helping them build confidence and a love of reading.
Michael Salmon!
On Wednesday 20th August (Book Week Dress-up), our Year 3 students were lucky to have a virtual visit from Michael Salmon, a well-known Australian author and illustrator. Michael shared his journey as a writer and artist, created fun caricatures of a few students, and even had one student draw him! All of the children joined in with two guided drawings, using their A3 paper and pens, and had a wonderful time learning from him.
Production Costumes
Mrs McConachy has organised all of our costumes in Year 3 so they are ready for dress rehearsal! If your child is still missing some pieces, you will have been sent an email from Meg or Tilly. We are getting excited! Make sure you have booked your tickets!
