2025 FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST

We hope that you are looking forward to our 2025 Father's Day Breakfast on Thursday 4th September.

As previously outlined, the morning will start just after 9:00am in the Stuart Daly Gym with a presentation from this year’s special guest speaker Mark ‘Squiz’ Squirrell (see bio below), which will run for around 30 - 45 min. Following that, we will have time for classroom visits, where grades will have activities ready to go. Then at recess (10:40am), we will be back in the gym for a breakfast/morning tea of tea, coffee and bacon & egg muffins. The event will finish at the end of recess (11:10am)

This morning is for all Oatlands fathers and father figures, and we are really looking forward to seeing huge numbers in attendance as usual. The morning provides a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your kid(s) in their classroom and enjoy connecting with other dads within our community.

To cater for morning tea/breakfast please fill out your details here. This is a FREE ticketed event. We will not be checking tickets at the door; this is just for catering purposes.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Mark 'Squiz' Squirrell OAM

From car bombings, the Ebola Outbreak to meeting Yasser Arafat and making it to the summit of Mount Everest, Mark ‘Squiz” Squirrell OAM has experienced more than many can dream about. Squiz was awarded the coveted “Green Beret” whilst serving with the Australian Commando’s. His tenure with the military provided him with the skills and courage to succeed amongst adversity and turmoil. It was the perfect grounding for a career as an International Aid Worker. Squiz escorted food convoys through the Gaza Strip, negotiated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamel Eelam (Tamil Tigers) and brokered deals with Somali Clansmen to ensure the safe delivery of United Nations food aid.

In addition to this, Mark 'Squiz' Squirrell has taken the concept of being motivated at work to an all new high. He was inspired by his organisation, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and the impoverished people that it feeds, to climb to the top of the world to help raise awareness of the global hunger crisis. After a gruelling six week ordeal, Squiz raised the WFP flag on the summit of Mount Everest. The inspiring and thrilling recount across glaciers and up exposed cliffs reveal the motivation, habits and adversity skills that facilitated his success.

Squiz has a Bachelor of Business (HRM) and has published a memoire titled From Arafat to Everest. In 2019 Squiz was recognised in the Australia Day Honours List with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for “service to the international community through humanitarian aid”. He continues to deploy on short term assignments to emergency zones, such as the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa and Nepal Earthquake.

Oatlands Grandparents Afternoon - Friday 5th September 2pm-3:20pm

We are excited to announce our annual Oatlands Grandparents Afternoon, taking place on Friday 5th September 2pm-3:20pm. This popular event has always been a wonderful opportunity for our students to spend quality time with their grandparents, and we are thrilled to continue this tradition.

  • Grandparents are welcome to arrive at 2:00 PM entering through the front gate and school office. From there they will be accompanied to their grandchild’s classroom where a variety of fun activities and games will be ready for them to enjoy together.

  • Please note, parking near the school is limited, and we kindly ask everyone to observe the parking signs. The City of Casey enforces parking regulations and we want to ensure a smooth and enjoyable day for all our visitors.

  • If grandparents have more than one classroom to visit they will need to divide their time evenly between classrooms. Students will remain in their own classroom to complete their activity.

  • Oatland's Choir Performance will commence at 3:00pm in the Stuart Daly gym. An announcement will be made directing choir students to the gym and inviting grandparents to attend.

  • An announcement will be made at 3:20pm, concluding the event and requesting grandparents wait outside the classroom, allowing classes to prepare for home time.

We look forward to seeing you there!
