Grade Four

The Grade 4 students have made a wonderful start to Term 3. We enjoyed our fantastic Friendology workshop this week, where the students engaged in a number of role-play scenarios. It was great to see them utilising some of the skills they have been taught this year as part of the program.

During English lessons, the students worked on persuasive writing. They brainstormed their ideas on a chosen topic and learnt how to add facts to their arguments to make them stronger. The students explored a variety of persuasive texts both written and verbal, to gain a better understanding of what makes a strong argument and how to engage their readers. We have begun work on our book week activity and are looking forward to sharing the students' creativity during the upcoming book week showcase.

Math lessons over the past few weeks have given the students the opportunity to develop their knowledge of place value and apply these skills in renaming. Students have further developed their skills in deepening their knowledge of addition and subtraction and applying their skills in a range of scenarios.

Our Integrated Studies concept this term is Social Justice. We have been exploring questions such as “What is fair?” Students have participated in a variety of different activities designed to help them understand the concept of empathy and how we can support others. From here, students will begin working on a project to share their new understanding with other students and our school community.
