Kitchen

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 4, but what a fantastic fortnight it has been in our school kitchen!
MasterChef Magic – Grade 6
Wow! That’s all I can say about our MasterChef sessions. The two-course meals, main and dessert, from our Grade Sixes have been absolutely amazing. We still have two more MasterChef groups to go and if the first ones are anything to go by we may have some future chefs in the making!
Grade 5 Cooking Adventures
The Grade Fives have been busy bees in the kitchen cooking and baking the following:
Cinnamon Scrolls – Making the dough from scratch, learning how to knead, making a cinnamon butter spread topping, rolling them up and then baking them to perfection. Once cooked we topped them with cream cheese icing. Delicious!
Beef Burgers & Vegetarian Burgers – Students started off shaping their own patties, cooking them and then enjoyed them by filling their buns with all the tasty fillings you could imagine.
Chicken Stir-fry & Brownies – Students marinated the chicken, chopped fresh veggies, stir-fried everything and enjoyed eating it for lunch, along with homemade brownies that had been baked.
Scones for Afternoon Tea – We made both plain and savoury scones filled with cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh chives from our garden. They were baked close together (because scones like to be friends in the oven) and enjoyed them with jam and cream or simply on their own warm and cheesy.
Grade 4 – Corn Fritters
Our Grade Fours picked spring onions from our garden to use in their fritters. They learned to fry their fritters using an electric frypan making them golden, fluffy and full of flavour.
Grade 3 – Taco Time
The Grade Threes made tacos from scratch, seasoning their own meat and adding their favourite fillings. They loved making and eating their lunch!
Extended Cooking Program – Grade 5
In this special program, chosen students get to spend extra time in the kitchen with the Principal Team.
They are learning all about pastry – exploring different types of pastry, textures, spices and smells. So far they’ve made curry puffs and Portuguese tarts.
Kids in the Kitchen
Our new group of Kids in the Kitchen have started with cooking one of our favourites, corn fritters, and they’ve absolutely loved them.
From the Kitchen Garden
The garden is thriving! We’ve planted cabbage and our broccoli is looking lush and green. The herbs are flourishing and the spring onions in the garden are looking fantastic.
