Prep 1/2

It has been a busy couple of weeks again for us in class and more busy ones to come!

We are really excited about the next few weeks ahead with swimming week, celebrating book day by dressing up as our favourite book characters and we will be celebrating 100 days of prep very soon – date to be confirmed!

In English we have just finished our text ‘The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig’ which Year 1 and 2 have thoroughly enjoyed reading. The children have written character descriptions about the pig and included adjectives and different types of punctuation in their writing. We have used some drama techniques in which the children have got into role of the Big Bad Pig to portray his character and they have found this a lot of fun!

Nurture group are working hard on their sound recognition and enjoying activities based around the fantastic story of Room on the Broom.

In Maths we are continuing to practise our counting forwards and backwards in ones and skip counting in 2’s 3’s 5’s and 10’s.  The children are developing their multiplication skills by grouping objects equally and using arrays to solve number problems.

Last week during the assembly the children performed a song that they had been singing in class and I thought they were brave and confident to perform it in front of the rest of the school. Well done, Prep 1&2!!
