Wellbeing- Morning Routines

Thank you to those of you have have compelted the Understanding Attendance Survey from Compas. From this informtion (and our own experiences!) we understand that getting everyone up, ready and off to school can be a stressful event. This fortnight, we would like to share some information on morning rouintes and promote the use of visual schedules to help families build a consistent, predictible routine for getting ready for school.

Supporting Successful Mornings

Morning routines and visual schedules can be a simple but powerful way to help children start the day feeling calm, confident and ready to learn. A predictable routine helps children know what is happening, what is expected and what comes next, reducing uncertainty and the need for repeated reminders.

Visual schedules can be particularly helpful for younger children and students who find transitions or changes challenging, but they can benefit all students and families. They encourage independence, build responsibility and help make busy mornings more organised and positive for everyone.

Families are encouraged to create a simple morning routine or visual schedule at home, and our school is happy to support any interested family to develop one that works for their child and their individual needs. Please speak with your child’s teacher or a member of our Wellbeing Team if you would like some support getting started.
