Middle School Report

It has been a much quieter term, particularly compared with the hectic Term 2 we had. The students have finished their work experience, the Year 9s have completed their Morrisby Profiling, and now we’re heading towards the final stretch before both year levels reach some significant milestones.

The Year 10s are now gearing up to tackle VCE. Their teachers are working hard to prepare them for the greater effort, independence and consistency that will be required over the coming years. Students are becoming increasingly focused and are starting to think seriously about their futures. Course counselling sessions will soon take place with students and parents to help solidify their subject choices and pathways moving forward. It’s an exciting time.

For the Year 9s, things are also starting to get serious. We’re working hard to get them ready for Year 10 and, beyond that, VCE, by developing the skills, habits and independence they will need to succeed. The expectations will continue to increase, and this is an important time for students to establish the routines that will set them up well for the years ahead.

And it all starts with good attendance.

When your child is at school, we can help them. When they are not here, our ability to do that is limited. Schools are built on teamwork, and that team extends well beyond the school gates to families at home. You trust us to educate, support and challenge your children, and we rely on families to do their part as well — particularly in making sure students are at school, on time, and ready to learn.

We know that this is not always easy. A heartfelt thank you to those families who have made such a strong effort to support their child’s attendance. It makes an enormous difference, and it gives us the opportunity to do what we are here to do: help every student learn, grow and succeed.

Yea 10 Polish program

Year 10 students recently took part in the Polish program, a fantastic opportunity focused on building work readiness skills. Students had the chance to practise and refine their interview techniques, gaining valuable insights from guest speakers representing organisations including AON and V/Line. The session gave students real-world exposure to workplace expectations and professional communication, helping them build confidence as they prepare for future employment pathways. A great success, well done to all the Year 10 students who participated!

Westall Student Represents Victoria at School Volleyball Tournament

A huge congratulations to Year 9 student Zyenetta Harvey, who recently had the incredible opportunity to spend a week representing Victoria at the School Volleyball Tournament.

Zyenetta’s selection to represent Victoria is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful recognition of her dedication, talent and commitment to volleyball. Throughout the week, she had the opportunity to compete alongside some of the best school-aged volleyball players from across the state, representing Victoria with pride.

Being selected to a Victorian representative team is a significant accomplishment and reflects the hard work Zyenetta has put into developing her skills both on and off the court. The experience also provided her with the opportunity to challenge herself, build new connections and gain valuable experience competing at a high level.

We are incredibly proud of Zyenetta for representing Westall Secondary College and Victoria and for demonstrating the values of commitment, teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship.
