From the Wellbeing Team!

A message from the Student Wellbeing Coordinator

Ashley Oehler

This term we have welcomed two new people to the Westall Wellbeing Team! We would like to introduce Britney (Mental Health Practitioner) and Harper (Placement Student). Britney has a background in social work and has experience as a SSS. Harper is completing her Master of Counselling and is undertaking her student placement with us. She will be here until the end of 2026. They have spent the first few weeks of term getting to know students and the wonderful community at Westall.

What does the Westall Wellbeing Team do?

In the Wellbeing team, we run one-on-one sessions with students. This is a direct support we offer to students who struggle with regulation, need coping strategies, help managing stress, and navigating any tough situations.

We also run small group programs. These are targeted interventions that cover a specific topic/theme to support students experiencing similar struggles. We aim to empower and build awareness in our students with these programs.

This term we have three group programs running. They are the Social Skills, STAND program and then Young Women’s Empowerment Program.

Social skills aim to empower students to find their voice, support them in connecting with peers and working on maintaining positivity.

The STAND program aims to support students who need support managing anger, dealing with complex emotions, and overcoming impulse control.

Lastly, the Young Women’s Empowerment Program is a group tailored to support young girls to come together and step into their abilities. We aim to empower, encourage, and build the girls up so that they can be their most confident selves.
