Aim High Update – Term 3

Planning Day

On Wednesday 22nd July, the Westall Aim High students participated in the second Aim High Planning Day. These days are reserved for the students to meet and continue working on their Aim High Projects.

Junior students are working in groups on a the ‘Westall Space Program’, and Year 9s are working individually to research and present on a notable person from history.

Students worked well throughout the day and are showing excellent commitment to the project and an incredible level of creativity and enthusiasm.

Well done all!

Cyber Security Escape Room Excursion

On Monday 3rd August, our Aim High Students visited Quantum Victoria and took part in a Cyber Security Escape Room.

Working together and with students from another school, our high achievers attempted to escape by cracking a series of password codes. All tasks were related to Cyber Security and looked to teach our students about being safe on the internet. Students had to use a combination of Maths, Science, English and Humanities skills to crack the codes.

By the end of the day, the only two groups of students who had finished all tasks and escaped all three rooms were made up of Westall students!!

Well done all!

If you are interested in having instrumental lessons as school, talk to Mr Coco and he will talk to you about any questions you may have. The lesson time changes each week, so you don’t miss out on the same class every time. Lesson times are 35 minutes in duration.

Lesson fees are $120 for the year and an extra $100 for instrument hire. (For Drums, guitar/bass guitar or Piano/ Keyboard instrumental hire does not apply). If you are eligible for the CSEF (if your parents/guardians) have a Health Care Card, you don’t have to pay these fees. If you are unsure, ask Mr Tran at the front office.

Instrumental music enrolment forms may be collected from the front office or from Mr Coco or Mrs Mcalister (Instrumental Music room).
