I am excited to share that our students are participating in a Book Club for the next 5 weeks, where they will be reading Polly and Buster by Sally Rippin! The main purpose of Book Club is to foster a love of reading while helping students build social, critical thinking and conversational skills in a safe environment. Each week, the children will read a set section of the book during dedicated school reading times and work together to care for their copies. During our weekly book club meetings, students will sit in small groups to share their thoughts, answer discussion prompts and practice active listening while building confidence in expressing their unique opinions. If students are worried about not reading up to the allocated page, I may send the books home for some reading. Please help your child remember to bring their book back to school every day! A helpful trick is to pop it into their school bag right after reading so it's ready to go in the morning. Please let me know if you have any questions at all!

This fortnight, we wrapped up our unit on mass and capacity with a hands-on investigation! The students had a wonderful time measuring and comparing the capacity of various containers using rice. While it got a little messy—we were definitely grateful for the cleaners' visit the next day—the rich learning and engagement were well worth a few runaway rice grains!
