REMEMBRANCE DAY

Our Year 5 students will be leading the Stella Maris Remembrance Day Liturgy and Service on Wednesday 11 November. As a school community, we come together to honour and remember the servicemen and women who suffered or lost their lives during the First World War, Second World War and subsequent conflicts around the world.

Each year, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we remember the moment in 1918 when the guns fell silent on the Western Front, marking the end of fighting in the First World War.

At Stella Maris, we believe it is important to teach our students about the history of war, the sacrifices made by past generations and the lasting impact of conflict. Through prayer, the minute of silence, the Last Post and the laying of poppies and wreaths, students take time to reflect on the importance of freedom, peace and remembrance.
