Dear Families,
In the lead up to Christmas, it is a busy time for everyone. At school, there are many events as the students work towards a successful end to the year. Families have increased personal and work commitments. It is often a time when personal commitments conflict with school and work.
As the busyness increases, it is wise to prioritise the most important events and plan ahead as best as you can. Please ensure you read the newsletter and the calendar thoroughly to be aware of the upcoming events.
Parent participation has been exceptional at Stella Maris - last week we had approximately 40 parents at a Year 5 & 6 combined assembly.
On Friday, 30 October we celebrate World Teachers' Day here at Stella Maris. It is a chance for our school community to recognise and celebrate the incredible contributions our fantastic teachers/educators make. World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to celebrate the teachers who are making an impact on the lives of the students at Stella, and it provides an opportunity to say, “Thank you”. We encourage families to reach out to your child’s teacher/s and say “Thank you” this Friday. We thank our wonderful Parent and Friends for a special morning tea which is being organised to celebrate and thank our dedicated teachers.

Please listen to our latest Podcast with students talking about Sport in the first few weeks of Term Four. The students really enjoy the skills of planning, talking and interviewing for the podcast.
The students had a wonderful time planting in the new Kitchen Garden. It is currently fenced off to allow the new grass time to grow. Please see below a video taken with the students who won the design competition.

Yesterday we held a highly successful Open Day. We had a number of new families attend our wonderful school. We predominantly targeted families for 2028 but still had some interested in joining in 2027. The day began with a coffee before we headed to the MPR to present information about our school. Olivia, Tyson & Oscar spoke about our broad specialist program, large number of lunchtime clubs and extra-curricula activities. I spoke about our strong sense of community; excellent NAPLAN results; great class sizes; involved parents; feeder school to Kilbreda, St Bede's and Star of Sea; caring staff and students; spacious school grounds and facilities...and much more.
Planning for the day took place over many months with 200 'showbags' being distributed to 3 year old kinders across Beaumaris.
We had advertising boards on displaying, featuring art from Sophie in Year 5. Below you can see photos of Sophie's work displayed at our Art Show before being selected for the advertising boards that have been greatly admired throughout our local community.

Each year, all Catholic schools in Melbourne participate in MACSSIS surveys.
Attached are snapshots of the Student and Family surveys. Staff results will be published after they have been analysed by the staff.
Families will have the opportunity to analyse the results at an upcoming Community Conversation (with a date TBC).
The results indicate tremendous growth, particularly in the areas of:
Family Domain
Student Domain
There are 30 Domains across the Student, Staff & Family surveys. Stella Maris achieved Above MACS schools average in 28 out of the 30 Domains.
