Significant Events

There are two significant events coming up at DSC in Term 1:

 

  1. International Women's Day - Friday 8th March
  2. Harmony Week - 20th - 26th March

 

For International Womens Day the College will recognise the event as follows:

  • Having purple ribbons available for staff to wear
  • IWD slides up on the tv screens
  • Friday's Movie Cub on will be playing a movie about an inspirational woman (movie to be confirmed)
  • Purple cupcakes or jelly are planned to be for sale in the Canteen on that Friday
  • A short IWD activity will be completed during the Managing Me classes

 

For Harmony Week the theme is EVERYBODY BELONGS. The College will recognise Harmony Week in the following ways:

  • On March 20th & 21st we will celebrate Nowruz - Persian New Year - at lunchtime in the C Block quadrangle
  • On Thursday 21st our Year 7s will have their APD Harmony Day, completing a full day of related activities
  • On Friday 22nd March, our Breakfast Club will host a special Harmony Week breakfast
  • Crafternoon Club on Tuesday will be making and displaying Orange origami cranes and orange friendship bracelets
  • The canteen is hoping to sell orange cupcakes and jelly

 

 

Looking ahead into Term 2, the College will recognise ANZAC Day in the following ways:

 

  • Our College Wind Symphony will be performing at the Rotary Club of Manningham on Tuesday 23rd April
  • Wind symphony students and our College captains will be performing and MCing at the Doncaster RSL Dawn Service at 6am on Thursday 25h April. Our students will be giving an address about a local returned serviceman, David Westward, who turns 100 this year.
  • Our College plan to run a live-stream of our Anzac Day service on Friday 26th April under the flags, time to be confirmed.
