Year 9 MYSELF program

The Year 9 MYSELF program has transformed into a hub of creativity and problem-solving with a fresh focus on Design Thinking. Students have been diving into emphasising, defining, ideation, prototyping, and exploring innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Design Thinking isn't just a subject; it's a mindset that empowers our students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and approach challenges with creativity. This shift allows us to focus on developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

In 2024, we have reshaped our approach. While excursions hold value, we're ensuring they align with the richness of Design Thinking principles. This ensures meaningful experiences for our students, tying in seamlessly with their newfound problem-solving skills. 

Later in the year, our budding Year 9 designers will have the opportunity to propose excursions that align specifically with the Empathise or Test phases of their Design Thinking projects. It's an exciting chance for them to lead the way in their learning journey. This ensures a balance between the traditional and the innovative, creating an educational experience that truly stands out.

Design Thinking is more than a subject; it's a tool that equips our students for future success. By subtly tweaking our approach, we're amplifying the impact of every lesson, fostering a culture of creativity and critical thinking.
