Year 7's Transition Week

As we approach the middle of the first term, it is heartening to see how well our Year 7 students have settled into secondary school life. The transition from primary to secondary school can be a daunting one, but our Year 7 cohort has embraced the change with enthusiasm and positivity.

Academically, our Year 7 students have shown great dedication to their studies. They have quickly adapted to the new curriculum and are actively engaged in their learning. Teachers have been impressed by their willingness to ask questions, participate in class discussions, and seek help when needed. This eagerness to learn has translated into excellent progress across a range of subjects.

Beyond the classroom, our Year 7 students have also been actively involved in extracurricular activities. From sports teams to music ensembles, school camp to lunch time clubs, our students have embraced the opportunity to explore their interests and talents outside of the classroom. Their enthusiasm and energy have been truly inspiring to see.

Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting many of our Year 7 students' parents at the welcome barbecue. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families and build a strong school community. We are grateful for the support and involvement of our parents, and we look forward to working closely with them throughout the year.

As we reflect on our start to the first term, we are incredibly proud of our Year 7 students and how well they have settled into secondary school life. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and success in the months and years ahead.

Year 7 Camp Weekaway

On Wednesday 28 February, our Year 7 students embarked on their first College camp. For some students, this was their very first school camp experience. The Year 7 three-day camp is an integral part of the Transition Program offered at DSC. It provides students with the opportunity to participate in a range of outdoor activities, involving team building, communication and problem-solving.

Here are just a couple of the many Year 7 camp photos that will follow shortly.

Oh, and happy birthday, Seb!

While the Year campers were away, those Year 7s remaining onsite participated in a number of games and workshops led by our Year 9 Peer Leaders who relished the opportunity to practice their leadership and mentoring skills.
