What's On 3/4

Grade 3/4

It’s been a fun and busy couple of weeks in grade 3/4. We have been learning about our new jobs in the garden, practising for the upcoming athletics carnival and gearing up for NAPLAN.

Persuasive writing

This term, our grade 3/4’s have been learning about persuasive writing. They have enjoyed identifying the arguments being made in a range of texts, including some picture books. They have also chosen their own topics to write about, researching evidence to support their arguments. It has been great to read their passionate writing on topics such as Why school should be 4 days long, Why Michael Jordan is the greatest athlete of all time and Why dogs are better than cats. It was hard not to be convinced by their beautiful writing!

Maths

Our grade 3/4’s have gotten stuck into some tricky maths topics this year. Recently, we have been exploring the many different ways time can be recorded, such as analogue, digital, 12 hour and 24 hour time. We have also been working with addition and subtraction. Our students have used their place value knowledge to solve large problems and explored strategies for understanding and solving tricky worded problems.
