Eclipse House News

Welcome back to Term Two in Eclipse boarding. I hope that all families enjoyed the break.
Eclipse boys are well and truly embedded into their routines and engaged in house life. When you walk into Eclipse there is always a sense of calm and a welcoming nature. It is a pleasant space to be a part of and each week the boys are building a respectful and positive culture. This culture allows for the development of positive mateship and work ethic across all areas of their life.
Term Two sees the transition into winter sport passions. Across the house we have many avid footballers, hockey enthusiasts and volleyball players. It is impressive to see all boy’s motivations to achieve excellence in their chosen field. We are looking forward to celebrating their success across the next two terms.
This term Eclipse has a growing focus around prep time. Making sure that all boys are utilising this time to achieve their goals. In addition to their studies, I have challenged each boy in the house to be working through a novel or piece of writing of their choosing. Reading can be challenging for active young boys who would much rather be outside or communicating with friends on social media or gaming consoles. It is very important that we do not lose the enjoyment, engagement, and benefits of a good book. It is a period out of their day that is going to benefit their imagination, depth of knowledge, reading skill and creativity. Not to mention it also transcends into their schoolwork. Please encourage your sons to engage in a good book and share it with others.
Our boarders continue to engage in meaningful and fun recreation opportunities over the weekends. Some activities in Term Two have included, market runs, beach trips, movie nights and board game nights. Special mention goes to Miss Carter Wight for organising these for our boarding community.
We have also welcomed a new boarding supervisor, Mr James Egan. James comes with a vast experience in education and boarding supervision. He has made a great impact on the weekends, and we welcome him to Eclipse House and look forward to working with him.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any feedback or concerns.
