Endeavour House News

Thank you to all Endeavour families for your support in navigating the recent COVID-19 wave. Without hesitation, parents and guardians came quickly when called upon to help collect children. This allowed us to minimise the spread, as much as possible. For those who are unaware, the current government guidelines recommend that if we have a boarder who tests positive for COVID-19, they will return home for at least five days and until the symptoms have resolved. I would also like to thank the Endeavour girls, for how they handled the disruptions. Resilience and friendships have shone through, as we slowly start to settle back into normality within the house.

As you know, Boarders love routines and knowing what to expect on a daily and weekly basis is an important way to make the school term tick along. Here’s a quick reminder of some of the key (weekday) routines for the Endeavour girls:

  • House meetings: are held at 8.15am and 5.45pm.
  • Phone access: 7.30am to 8.30am, 3.30pm to 4.30pm and 7.30pm until 30 minutes prior to lights out.
  • Lights out: 8.30pm for Year Sevens, 9.00pm for Year Eights, 9.30pm for Year Niness.
  • Optional Sleepovers: Saturday nights (Terms Two and Three) and Friday nights (Terms Four and One).
  • Weekend leave: to be booked by Thursday night, if possible.
  • Mid-week leave: to be booked 24 hours in advance, to give families’ and myself time to approve the request and for transport to be allocated accordingly.
  • Flexischools (school) lunch orders: Mondays in Term Two
  • Dining Hall lunch: Fridays
  • Prep in the Library: 6.30pm to 7.30pm, Monday to Thursday
  • Gym sessions: 7.30pm to 8.00pm, Monday and Thursday
  • Mrs Freeman’s linen service: even weeks
  • Whole-Boarding Sunday Session: 6.00pm to 7.00pm, Sunday

This term Mrs Franzinelli will also be popping in on a Monday morning to fix any missing buttons on school blazers.

Endeavour Boarders are an active bunch, and we have a lot of sporting and life commitments happening throughout the week. I have encouraged students to plan accordingly. This may include having an early night, requesting a ‘save’ meal for tea, entering a leave request, staying on top of washing, attending Academic Support at school, if they are missing prep of an evening... and...ask for help, when things are getting a bit hectic! Supervisors are always very happy to chat with students about time and self-management strategies that can help the girls juggle all the balls!

A friendly reminder to leave hosts; please come to the house to say 'hi' and to have a handover for the Supervisor on duty. Upon returning to the house, the host should report any illness, injury or medication information to the supervisor, that they may not know already.

Birthdays

We have celebrated two birthdays since the last Boarding Buzz.  Alira Savage had her birthday in the last weekend of the school holidays and since returning to Term Two, Stella Altham celebrated her birthday in boarding.  Many happy returns girls.

Lots of logistics in this Buzz report, but I just wanted to give you an overview. We work in a dynamic environment and these arrangements are not set in stone, I will continue to communicate with you about any changes.

Fingers crossed the rain has arrived for you, all the best.
