Learning and Teaching: Literacy

Welcome to our Literacy community. Together with families, we support strong foundations in reading, writing, and communication.

In Partnership

We value the important role families play in supporting children’s learning and would like to warmly invite you to continue partnering with us to support your child’s development in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Strong literacy skills grow best when school and home work together. Simple moments such as reading together, talking about ideas, encouraging your child to share their thoughts, and celebrating effort all make a meaningful difference.

By working in partnership, we can help every child grow in confidence, communication, and a love of learning. Thank you for the support, encouragement, and commitment you show each day to your child’s learning journey.

We look forward to continuing this partnership throughout the year.

At St Peter's, teachers are learners too. Just as we encourage students to grow and improve, our teachers continually update their knowledge and skills in literacy to ensure we are using the most effective and evidence-based practices in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Ongoing professional learning allows teachers to better understand how students learn, respond to individual needs, and provide targeted support that helps every child succeed. By staying current in literacy research and practice, we strengthen our teaching and improve learning outcomes for all students.

Our commitment to learning reflects our commitment to your children—ensuring they receive the best possible support as confident and capable communicators.
