3/4B

Mr Brendan and Ms Ashleigh

Welcome Back!

Welcome back everybody to Term 3! We're looking forward to a fun filled term with lots of great learning experiences.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week, celebrated annually in July, is a time for all Australians to learn about and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. For children, it's an opportunity to engage with Indigenous cultures, fostering respect and understanding of Australia's First Nations people.

To start Term 3, all students were invited to wear the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and take part in a range of NAIDOC Week activities with their House teams, organised by Ms Melanie. We will continue to look at Indigenous culture in our unit of Inquiry throughout the term.

3/4 Living Culture Incursion - Friday 22nd August

We have a "Living Culture" incursion booked for the Year 3/4s on Friday 22nd August between 9:00am and 11:00am. This will tie in beautifully with our current Inquiry unit. The incursion will be a presentation of Aboriginal artefacts and storytelling with information on traditional bush tucker and medicines. This experience will allow students to ask questions and interact directly with cultural practitioners.

3/4 Class Mass - Friday 8th August

On Friday the 8th August, the Year 3/4s will be attending Mass at St Francis Xavier Church. This is the Feast Day of Mary Mackillop, Australia's first Saint. All families are welcome to join us for this special Feast Day. Mass begins at 9:15am.

Home Learning

Home work will continue each fortnight throughout Term 3. Homework books came home this week and will need to be returned on Friday 8th August. Homework will then be sent home in weeks 4, 6 and 8.

July Birthdays!

A big Happy Birthday to both Dwayne (18th) and Leon (23rd) who recently celebrated their special day.

Kind regards,

Mr Brendan, Ms Ashleigh and Ms Sue.
