It has been wonderful hearing about all the fun that was had over the school holidays. The children have been eagerly sharing with their peers and in their writing this week. We had a great first day back, the children enjoyed connecting with each other during play time.
On Tuesday we spent the day learning about Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander culture. The children participated in activities led by the grade 6 students. It was a great way to learn more about the beautiful country we live in. Pictured below, the children are decorating their rainbow serpents with different indigenous storytelling symbols.
On Wednesday, the 1/2's had a fantastic time visiting Como House. The children learnt all about life in the 'olden days', including how to dance, children's etiquette, and what life was life as a servant. One of the many highlights was playing old fashioned games such as croquet, sack races, egg and spoon race, drop the hankie and hot potato.
Just a friendly reminder that many students have not yet returned their Family Timeline homework task, which was sent home recently. This task is an important part of our Inquiry unit on how life changes over time and will be used during our End of Term Showcase.
We’re asking families to please support their child in completing this activity by helping them fill in the timeline sheet. Students are asked to include at least three significant family events such as:
Completing this task at home will help your child contribute confidently to the upcoming showcase and classroom discussions.
We have sent home new sheets today. Please return these by Monday.
Stay tuned. Our star of the week will return in week 3.
We wished Sonya a very happy birthday for July 25.
