Year 10 News

Welcome back to Term 4!
It’s great to see everyone back and ready for the final stretch of the year. As the term progresses, we’re getting closer to saying goodbye to our Year 10s as they prepare to take the next big step into senior school.
Tasmania Camp
At the end of last term, 34 students from the Churchill and Morwell Campuses embarked on an exciting Year 10 Tasmania Camp. The adventure began bright and early at 4:30 am on Monday, with many bleary-eyed students gathering at Morwell Campus, ready to board a coach bound for Melbourne Airport. From there, staff and students boarded a Virgin Australia flight to Hobart, eager to kick off a week full of exploration and fun.
The itinerary was packed with unforgettable experiences. Students enjoyed a round of minigolf, explored the historic Port Arthur site, and visited museum and art gallery exhibitions. The week was also filled with scenic sightseeing, an afternoon at Cataract Gorge, several shopping trips, plenty of delicious meals, and a surprise snowfall on the very first day!
On Thursday evening, the group travelled to Devonport to board the Spirit of Tasmania for an overnight journey home. Despite a few bouts of seasickness, everyone arrived safely back in Geelong at 6:00 am on Friday before returning by coach to Morwell Campus.
The Tasmania Camp was a memorable experience for all, offering students the chance to bond, explore, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
2026 Pathway
If your student did not attend our Course Counselling session last term and still does not have a pathway for 2026, please contact our College Careers Team to arrange an appointment and discuss further.
Last day of Year 10 classes
Year 10s will finish their junior campus classes on Friday 21st November.
Year 10 Formal
Year 10 Formal is scheduled to take place in the function room at the Morwell Club on Tuesday, 25th of November, as a celebration of students’ time at the Junior Campus before they transition to the Senior Campus the following week. The night is a student-only event and allows the opportunity for all to come together for one final celebration and reflect on their time over the years. This is not a compulsory event but has always been popular and a nice way to end this chapter of their lives…not to mention a great excuse to get dressed up. Further details are available on Compass.
VET Orientation Day
If your student has selected to undertake a VET course as part of their VCE/VCEVM, there will be a compulsory orientation day on Wednesday 26th November. Further details will be sent to individual students regarding times, location, etc. If you have any questions please contact the VET Coordinator, Sarah Pedlow, at the University Campus.
Senior Campus Headstart
Students will commence their senior schooling on Thursday 27th of November, at the University Campus. This is a compulsory two-week program that will introduce students to senior schooling and begin work for the following year. During this time students will receive their timetables, get to meet their teachers, and commence work for the 2026 school year. If you have any questions, please contact University Campus on 5132 3800.
Uniform Donations
With Year 10s about to depart the junior campus and begin their senior schooling years, we are asking any families who no longer have a use for the college uniform and wish to donate it back to the college to support other students and families to please drop any unwanted uniform pieces in at our office to be recycled and repurposed.
